With the permission of “Hans”, I re-post this:

Have you noticed an increase of bicycle riders in our streets? It is almost dramatic! Hot August Nights brings a lot of focus on fuel driven vehicles. This could be an excellent time and opportunity to the public aware of the wholesome, healthy alternative of bike riding. There finally seems to be a growing alertness and readiness to act by our authorities. If we could motivate a thousand folks to participate in the Hot August Bike Ride it could just make the statement to propel our authorities to make riding safer in our area with appropriate biking facilities.

While Critical Mass rides have their values, to transcend them we have requested Reno city government support and police escort.

How?
Join the Hot August Bike Ride on 8/8, 6 PM at the West Street Market (West St. between 1st and 2nd Streets) in downtown Reno.

Why?

  • To help raise the consciousness for bike riding as a wholesome, ecological transportation alternative.
  • To make a statement to our authorities for more and better biking lanes and paths, for biking education in schools and corresponding law enforcement.
  • For greater health.
  • For fun and camaraderie.

Who?
Anyone who can ride a bike is welcome to join!

I went ahead and re-posted it also on Facebook, as an event. Click here to check it out and RSVP if you’re cool like that. Or, you know, you can just show up.

I will. cheers

Whoa
This great YouTube series of videos is my current favorite internet “thing”.
The premise is: back in 1968, Alrugo Entertainment filmed an italian action-adventure movie. It was deemed “un-viewable” by italian distributors and never released or shown.
The only 35mm print of the film was lost at sea, but it was recently recovered. Alrugo Entertainment now releases the film through YouTube, one bit a week.
The “production” does give the cheap, cheesy sense of it being an old movie. Or at least, it does for me, because I haven’t seen too many movies from that time. Regardless, it’s awesome. And that’s what matters right now.
Here is the trailer:

And if you go here, you can must see all the episodes.

I think the Grand Sierra should make this one of their new rides, shooting you over U.S. 395, so you can puke into traffic. That’s something I wouldn’t mind paying $50 to do once!

On a seemingly unrelated note, check out beambrosia.com.
Sounds like quite the scam (or maybe not! gizz ), and the only reason why I’m posting about it is because their contact information is “502 East John Street, Carson City, Nevada, 89706″. If I end up being bored out of my mind, it is likely that I’ll drive down there to have a sample. v
Josh aka Shazburg did a little of his e-detective work, and found that this is a set-up by a company that specializes in operations where they set up, scam and go before they get sued. Or something like that. Let’s just say that they have a colorful legal record.

3 I just signed up, with Stef, of course.
The official website said: “Huge amounts of snow have left the course to Truckee in some of the best shape ever. Add to that a great projected forecast for race day, and there is no place you would rather be.”, so it will at least be pretty!
This will be on Sunday, so wish me luck )

I think I’ve updated the blog. There are things that are not working quite right though froggonk , so please report if you see anything weird.

From scratch! Took potatoes, flour as the two main ingredients and went to town on it, and 30 minutes later, they were going IN MAH BELLY btroll . They were pretty good, and considering it was her first try at them, I can’t wait until she perfects the art.

I would also like to take this exciting news flash to report our plans for new years: We will be in Oklahoma, visiting Stef’s grandparents and aunts and uncles. I have no idea what we will be doing exactly, besides eating a lot, sleeping, and hanging out. We might make a little day-trip to Oklahoma City, and we’re open to suggestions too!
One easy way to do so would be to leave a comment on this here page, just below this post you’ll see a link that says “leave a reply”, and then you just enter your name, email (don’t worry, no one gets to see it but me) and the message. Easy as that!

Yes, do it! If you’re a closet gay, it’s time for you to come on out. If you were waiting for the perfect moment, today is the day!
More info:

Disclaimer: I am not gay. Nor am I a homophobe. One of my best friends is gay, and I will never forget when he told me about it. It was a good moment, and I wish that homosexual weren’t afraid of saying so.

So… yay! sissies

While you’re sitting there, do this:

  • Lift your right foot.
  • Make clockwise circles with your foot.
  • Keep doing circles with your foot.
  • With your right hand, draw the number 6 in the air.
  • Your foot will change directions, no matter how hard you try!

[oops. I thought I had posted this! It looks like I had just saved it, and never published it. My apologies. This is all from September 17th]

It is true! As of last thursday, I am 24 years old.
The day started like any other day, getting up early, going to work and all that. But at night we had a little party that turned out pretty awesome, if I may say so.
It all started at around 7pm, and we had people over for some pizzas. The Aikins showed up first, as I had expected, since they live about 15 houses away, and then more people started coming.
It was really fun, it was the first serious birthday party I’ve had in the US… I don’t really remember what I did for my other birthdays on years before, so I wanted to change that, and I decided to have a party for myself
The most memorable moment was when Stef told me she was giving me her present. She said it was also from Gary and Lisa (my in-laws), and that it was sitting on the driveway, waiting for me. She blindfolded me and led me there, and of course everyone got there before me (since they could see where they were going), and they were looking at the present.
Then, when I was able to take my blindfolds out, I saw it. A huge box, with some pretty bows on it, a basketball on top of it. Oh yeah, what was in the box? Why, I think I’ll just show you a picture of the box, ok?

Whoa! When Stef had asked me what I wanted, I did tell her I would love a basketball hoop, but I don’t recall asking for the most awesome hoop out there! It was a serious kick-ass gift, and I love it.

On Friday evening I spent a couple of hours putting everything together, and I wasn’t able to finish, so it got finishes yesterday afternoon. Ryan (our roomate) helped me test it. As it turns out, he’s quite the basketball player himself, so I am foreseeing lots of basketball being played.
Today Sunday we played some 1-on-1, and my right arm is already feeling weak!

Anyways, enough about the birthday and basketball. If you want to see more pictures of the evening, let me refresh you that at http://www.flickr.com/photos/nicoyogui, I have a few more pictures, at all times. You can see this link to the right of this text also, so don’t say you never knew!

In other news, I’m starting to get bored at my current job, and I am actively looking for a new one. I’ve sent out resumes to a few places already, and I even have an interview on Tuesday, so who knows, maybe I will be switching jobs once again.
Also, I have been looking at some webhosting solutions, and I will probably be soon changing things on my website. I’d like to have my own blogging package and specially the picture albums, and at the moment it looks like I’ll be using Word Press and Gallery or ZenPhoto. Stay tuned, or maybe you’ll just be surprised one of these days!

Check it out! It’s hosted here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKvb407SxWM
Thanks to Kyle R. for lending me his little camcorder!
